"Tatay Burik" as we fondly call him lived an amazingly colorful life.  He told stories of his adventures and experiences as a performer around the world, and gave advices to fellow entertainers, who would travel abroad.  He started his career as a very skilled archer and immediately landed on a TV show in Japan in 1971.  From 1972 to 1988 he traveled as an ace archer to the following places: different night clubs in Thailand (1972), Maya Murok Theater , Indonesia (1973), Merlin and other night clubs, Singapore and Malaysia (1974), Now Resort Hotel, Gunma-ken , Japan (1975), Kakinuma Circus Tour, Japan (1977), Toshimaen Amusement Park , Tokyo , Japan (1978), and different night clubs in Switzerland (1980-1981).

He was immensely in love with Magic, that when The Magicians Foundation, Inc. (MAGFI) formed in 1990, he immediately became its External Vice President and went on to serve as its President from 1993 to 1998, and as its Chairman from 1998 to 2005.  Through his efforts, MAGFI became I.B.M. Ring 322 on March 20, 1997.  Even though he was not one of the founders, he was the driving force behind MAGFI’s continued existence and is considered the Father of MAGFI, earning him the moniker "Tatay (meaning father) Burik".
He is survived by his wife, RoseƱa De Mesa Nadela, his children, Eric Robin Nadela and wife Tina Aningat Nadela, Rose Richelle Nadela Tolentino and husband Ruel Tolentino, Enrique Nadela Jr. and Ellen Ruth Nadela, and grandchildren, Theo Nadela, Miguel, Michelle and Nathaniel Tolentino.
The Broken Wand ceremony was conducted on March 13, 2008 by the members of the Magicians Foundation, Inc., led by Philippine Territorial Vice President Ferdinand Flores.
Wherever you are Tatay Burik, we will sorely miss you!

    Dear Doc Moraleta,

Thank you very much for this article. Indeed you write very well. Little I know of Burik. My first meeting with him was at Fiesta Carnival in his place there once upon a time. Then I saw him in one of the Magfi - IMC show.

Thank you for this write up.

    Prof. AL
